Uncle JD was so many things (all good) - but first and foremost he was a good man. He was a shining example of what it meant to do the right thing no matter what. I will never forget him and will never be able to express how much respect and admiration I hold for him. I know he and Papaw (Billy) are singing and rejoicing together again. Aunt Rosella and Tony - my heart breaks for you both...your loss profound...but if there is anything I can do all you need to do is tell me. My love and prayers to you both. - Jennifer

I will always remember JD- and all the Shoemakers for that matter- as being 'good people'. If you needed something- JD could find it or get it for you! And Oh-boy! What a story teller JD was!

I will miss Uncle JD, he was my touch stone after my Dad (Billy) passed away. Every time I needed to talk to my Dad I would call Uncle JD and we would talk and reminisce about Dad and both be laughing. Now Uncle J and my Dad will both be singing for the angels. Aunt Rosie, you and Tony will both be in my thoughts and prayers and if you need anything, please give me a call so I can pay it forward. Love you all, Carol
