Joseph Leonard LaBarge Sr., a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 29th, 2026, surrounded by loving family at the age of 68.
Born on March 20th, 1957, in Damar, Kansas, he lived a life defined by his dedication to those he loved. He was a man who understood the value of family and leaves behind a legacy of strength, hard work, and deep-rooted kindness. He was a man who truly loved his craft and found great fulfillment in building multiple battery factories from the ground up. Beyond his technical expertise, Joe was known for the way he treated people. Throughout his career, he had a rare gift for turning colleagues into lifelong friends, building a community of loyalty and respect that extended far beyond the workplace.
Joe is reunited in peace with his beloved parents, Hubert and Evangeline LaBarge. He is survived by his devoted wife, Layne LaBarge. His memory will be carried on by his children and their families: his son Joe LaBarge Jr. and wife, Amanda, along with their children, Jaden and Jace. His son, Justin LaBarge, and wife, Shawna, along with their children, Payton and Bradyn, and his daughters, Morgan LaBarge and Jenna LaBarge. Joe is also remembered by his former spouse, Deena LaBarge, one brother, Ronnie LaBarge, and five sisters: Marlene Trible, Jolene Greene, Linda Newell, Sharon Forgue, and Donna Forgue.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joe’s life and legacy on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, at Greenlawn East Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joe’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
