Mrs. Joy L. Pyle, age 89, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Emeritus at Sweetwater Personal Care Home in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
Joy was born in Springfield, Missouri on February 21, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Leona May Cash Laney and the late Willmon Laney. She received a Bachelor of Education Degree from State Teacher’s College, now Missouri State University, and was a homemaker by trade. Joy was an avid golfer and a devout Episcopalian. She served on the Alter Guild at St. James Episcopal Church, Springfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Pyle, and her sisters, Edith Krasser, Esther Brunson and Avice Krasser. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Margaret and Barry Coburn, Douglasville; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Natalie Coburn, Douglasville. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in Greenlawn South Funeral Home, 441 W Battlefield, Springfield, Missouri 65807, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.,on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Funeral Services will be conducted at St. James Episcopal Church, 2645 E. Southern Hills Blvd., Springfield, Missouri, 65804, at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014. Interment will follow the service at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, Springfield, Missouri, 65804.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, St. James Episcopal Church, Shriners Children’s Hospital, or the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
