Juanita was always Grandma DD to her grandkids, and she was an interesting, headstrong woman. She had several children, and each has children who who now themselves have great grandchildren. Grandma DD’s house was always full of 7up, and photos of her loved ones, and when her husband, Grandpa DD was alive, him sitting in his wheelchair. I like to believe she finally found peace after passing in her daughter Susie’s house. Leading to her death her daughter Susie, her granddaughter April and her Great Granddaughter Kelky took care of her. Though her memory was gone, she still shared stories. Telling them through her dark colored eyes as her loved ones sat at her side. Grandma was patient, and was fighting to the end. Happy 14 years in heaven, Grandma DD, we never forget you or Grandpa.

Juanita Lawson was a daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend. When she passed away Juanita was being taken care of by Susie Hale, her beloved granddaughter. During her final days, she was able to be taken from her nursing home and home to Susie’s to be surrounded by family. Her granddaughter April, great granddaughter Kelly (whom she called Kelky) and daughter Susie took turns sitting with her during the days leading up to her passing. Juanita had a tough childhood, but married her husband John young. Although he passed years before she did - they were a team. They took care of each other. Juanita was a Christian woman who attended services when her health allowed. When she finally passed away, she had multiple grandchildren, great grand-children and now over ten years later has multiple great/ great grandchildren. To know Juanita was to know the 7-Up she gave you when you entered her house or the easter pictures taken on the couch in her small house. To know her was to look past the fact that she was human and didn’t always have good days and was not perfect. Happy twelve years in Heaven, Grandma DD. We love you. “In life, we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, no one else will ever fill” – Unknown
