Judy Ann Murphy, age 57, of Springfield, was born January 19, 1953, in Peoria, Ill., and passed away October 20, 2010, in Cox South, Springfield, Mo.
She graduated from Central High School in 1971, and was employed by Northrop Grumman, formerly Litton Industries for over 35 years. She was last employed with Liberty Bank for a year. She fought a courageous one-year battle with lung cancer and most recently a brain tumor. She was very loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
She enjoyed softball and was a member of the Missouri Softball Hall of Fame.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Kenny Dodson; infant sister, Jacquetta Murphy; and grandparents, Fred and Helen McKnight, and Arthur and Jennie Dodson.
She is survived by her mother, Lavenia Dodson; sisters, Jennifer (Jerry) Ray, and Joy (Chris) Burnett; nieces, Tiffany (Chaniver) Tolliver and Tarrah (Caleb) Moreno; nephews, Tyler Ray and Shane Burnett; and great-nieces, Kaylee and Ashtyn Shelley, Jaclyn Moreno, and Amari and Aja Tolliver.
Visitation will be Sunday, from 4 to 6 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Funeral services will be Monday, October 25, 2010, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Crane Community Cemetery, Crane, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society .
