It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Ann Jones, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Judy was born on December 21, 1960, in Kansas City, Kansas to Reverend Junior McGinnis and Mary Ann (Jones) Searcy. She entered into glory on March 14, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri after a brief illness.
She was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Jones on December 30, 1976. From this union, two daughters, Stacey and Misty were born. Judy’s greatest joy was becoming a mother.
Judy worked tirelessly as a certified nursing assistant in the medical industry, dedicating her life to caring for others. She found joy and fulfillment in her work at Cox Hospital and later Phoenix Home-health, where she provided comfort and compassion to all her patients.
Family was everything to Judy. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Stacey Bennet and Misty Burney. Judy cherished spending time with her family, especially playing basketball and catch with her grandsons. She also cherished the moments she had with her only granddaughter. Her nurturing spirit extended to her love for animals, particularly her loyal dogs Luna and Tuf-tuf.
In her spare moments, Judy found solace in the simple pleasures of life, from fishing trips to tending to her yard, walking the nature center. Her warm presence and loving nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was met in heaven by her parents; Rev Junior McGinnis, and Mary (Jack) Searcy, and five sisters, Susan McGinnis, Sheila Green, Jackie McGinnis, Sandra Beck, and Sharon Thompson.
Judy leaves behind her husband of almost 48 years, Mike Jones; her two daughters and their husbands, Stacey and Yancy Bennet and Misty and Daley Burney; five grandchildren, Austin Bennett, Brianna Bennett (Hunter Davis), Carter Burney, Marshall Burney, and Tanner Burney; two sisters, Selina Burtchett (Rick) and Teresa Miller; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on March 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm, preceded by a visitation at 1:00 pm. This ceremony will bring together friends and family to honor and remember the remarkable person Judy was.
Though she may no longer be with us, Judy’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Rest in peace, Judy Ann Jones.
