Karen Elizabeth McCandless, 60, of Reed Springs, Missouri passed away peacefully with her family by her side after an eight month fight with brain cancer. Karen was born on September 9, 1959 to Carl and Evelyn Kollmeyer.
Karen was a 1977 graduate of Central High School. In her early teens, Karen culminated a love for sports that continued throughout her life. She was on the volleyball and basketball teams at Central and was instrumental in the early stages of Women’s softball in Springfield. She was involved with several championship teams. After high school, she began with her love of horticulture. This continued throughout her life, there was nothing she could not grow. Karen was blessed with her daughter, Nicole, who was her biggest fan and granddaughter, Eva, was the apple of her eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Evelyn and, brothers, Carl and Richard. She is survived by Nicole Hedrick and her husband, Joey and Granddaughter Eva. Also surviving are her Sister, Pam McKinnis (Rick) and brothers, James and Keith (Terry); niece, Bobbi Brown and nephew, Brad Williams and their families, all of Springfield. She is also survived by her Life Partner of 25 years, Bob Probstfeld of Reed Springs.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 with a memorial service following at 6:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Meinert, Missouri in the Spring.
