Kathleen Marie Summers, (Kathy/Kat) loving mother, grandmother, sister, step-daughter, & step-sister and friend passed away Friday, February 28, 2014. She was born in Kansas City, Aug. 24, 1957,to Carl W. & Muriel Summers.
Kathy was devoted to education. She graduated from Parkview H.S. then went on to receive her nursing degree at Burge School of Nursing. She then graduated from Drury University with her Bachelor of Nursing degree, then went on to Forest Institute to obtain her Masters degree in psychology.
Kathy retired in 2007 from the MCFP after more than 20 years. Then continued her career working part-time at the Burrell Center.The love of her life was her children, grandchildren, siblings, and her personal quest to help others.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother: Alan E. Schaeffer. She is survived by her daughter Nicole Taylor, a son: Drew Turner, special grandson: Hunter Turner, several grandchildren, her siblings: Carl Summers Jr., Judy Rothermel, Peggy Gerken, Carolyn Hamilton, Brenda Coday, and Michael Summers, and her step-mother: Liz Summers and step-sisters: Tammy Misner and Tina Griffin.
We have all been blessed and touched to have been a part of her life, with her she takes a piece of our hearts and will be truly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Greenlawn North Funeral Home. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
