Kathryn E. “Ellie” Stanton, 91, of Springfield passed away at Mercy Hospital on July 17, 2013 after residing at Magnolia Square Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since October 2012. Mrs. Stanton was born on January 21, 1922 to Ernest and Villa (Meese) Peters. Ellie attended Springfield Public Schools and worked for Producers Creamery in the lab and later at Zenith until retirement in 1986. On October 28, 1945, Ellie married Stanley Stanton and they made their home in Springfield. Mr. Stanton died in February of this year. Ellie had a passion for children and was happiest teaching little ones in Sunday school or sitting on the floor playing with her grandchildren. She was a member of Grant Avenue Baptist Church for many years and most recently a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Mrs. Stanton is survived by her daughters Kathy Sikes (Terry) of Independence, Kansas and Connie Will (Mark) of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Adam (Mandy) Sikes of Lawrence, Kansas with their children, Brandon and Kyle: Anna (Brandon) Wilson of Nixa, Mo. with their expected son in November, Graham Sikes of Lansing, Michigan and Aubrey Will of Springfield Mo. Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Jerry and brothers Leroy and Bill Peters Visitation will be Friday July 19, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and the funeral will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn North Funeral Home. “Miss Ellie” was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
