Kelly “Mack” McCormack, age 55 , of Bolivar passed away Thursday, April 5th, 2018 at Mercy Hospital after a short illness. Kelly was born January 22, 1963 in Springfield, MO to Roy and Louise McCormack. He was a 1981 graduate of Hillcrest High School. Kelly retired from the United States Army after over twenty years of service, serving in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, with his bomb dog Ringo, who lived with Kelly after his retirement.. Kelly enjoyed fishing and spending time on his farm.
Survivors include his two loving daughters, Jessica Hawkins and husband Brian, Ozark and Kathrine “Katie” McCormack, Springfield; One grandson, Julian Hawkins; mother of Jessica and Katie, Cindy McCormack, Fair Grove; four sisters, Mary, Jody, Wendy, and Kathy; one brother, Robin; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Louise McCormack.
Graveside services will be Monday, April 16, 2018 at 1:00 pm, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kelly McCormack Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.

Kelly was a patriot and a hero. We grew up on different households, being half-brothers, both born to Louise McCormack. As fate would have it, I had very little contact with Kelly growing up. I always respected him for his accomplishments though he probably never knew of the reverence I had for him. Kelly was also preceded in death by another brother, Roy, who died in 1962. I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Kelly and I were friends for a very long time. We met while serving in A Battery, 3rd Battalion, 75th FA. We became close over the years going fishing at Roaring River and Bennett Springs. He was a true friend, they don't come any better. Rest in Peace my friend. My condolences to his daughters and family.

I was in the reserve with Kelly from 85 to 91. Always had a great time. So sorry for his family's loss truly a great man

Truly sad news, never easy losing and good husband, father, grandfather, friend and former colleague. I met/worked with Kelly on operation Iraq Freedom, we were both at RONCO that time, a big man with a small heart, always ready to help where he could. Kelly was always a joy to be around, always making jokes, never a dull moment with him around.
