Kenneth Arnold Mayer passed away on September 21, 2010 in the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. He was born on October 20, 1923 in Cedar Valley, Iowa to the late John E. and Cora E. (Gladfelter) Mayer.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was awarded a bronze star. He was an active member of VFW, American Legion and Cooties for many years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law John G. and Dolly Mayer and brother-in-law Parker Burroughs all of Tipton, IA.
Survivors include two daughters Trudy Collins and husband Terry of St. Peters, MO and Mitzi Burch and husband David of Battlefield, MO; five grandchildren Jeff, Bryan, Cindy, Serena and Matt; 13 great grandchildren; and one sister Dorothy Burroughs of Hills, IA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Greenlawn South Funeral Home, 441 W. Battlefield, Springfield, MO 65807. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tipton, Iowa on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 3:00 pm.
