Kenneth Bartley Ross, 93, of Springfield went to be with his Lord on October 29, 2011. He was born September 3, 1918, in Ellis Prairie, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary and 6 siblings. He is survived by 2 children, Kennie Goff and husband Sam, and Karlyn Holder, all of Springfield; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
Kenneth served in the Army for 3 years, was elected County Clerk of Texas County 4 terms and served as Mayor of Houston, Mo. After serving in office, he pursued a career in real estate and eventually became a property negotiator for the Missouri Highway Department. Kenneth finally entered into retirement from the Missouri Highway Department at age 65. He was also a 50-year Mason of Texas Lodge #177 in Houston, Mo.
He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Springfield, Mo., for 11 years. Prior to, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Houston, Mo., for 60 years. He never met a stranger and adored his family.
Kenneth enjoyed playing golf, dominoes, and bingo. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend of many. His caring spirit will always be remembered.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, with the funeral service following at 10 a.m. Graveside service and burial will follow at 2 p.m., in Pine Lawn Cemetery, Houston, Mo.
