Kenneth E Powell

Kenneth Eugene Powell went to be with our Lord on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 88 years of age. He was born in Sedalia, MO to Parents William and Lila Powell. He was predeceased in death by his parents, brother William (Bill) Powell, brother John Robert (Bob) Powell, and sister La Verne Zellmer. He is survived by his sister Edith Jeffries of Springfield, niece Sandra Rose (Kenneth), nephew Stan Schultz (Linda), nephew Doug Powell (Michelle), niece Patti Schultz, nephew Mark Powell (Sarah), as well as several great nieces and nephews,.
Kenneth moved to Springfield with his family in the 1930’s. He was Baptized and Confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield. After High School Kenneth served in the United States Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Boxer during the Korean War. After the Korean War Kenneth returned to Springfield where he began his working career in the heating and air-conditioning field. He was co-owner of Powell Bros. Heating and Cooling in the 1960’s. He then went on to be employed at A C Supply Company and later as a Maintenance Technician in the Springfield Public School System.
Kenneth loved sports and in the late 1960’s was an outstanding Out Fielder on the Foremost Dairy Men’s Fast Pitch Softball Team in the Springfield Fast Pitch City League. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and water skiing. Since the late 1960’s he had been a Lifetime Member of Elks Lodge #409 in Springfield. During the past three years he was a resident at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon, MO.
Services for Kenneth will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
