Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Bassham, 84, of Springfield, MO went to be with his Lord on April 3, 2013. He was born May 6, 1928, in Moco, AR.
Kenneth worked at Frisco for 35 years. After retirement he also went on to become VP of Mid America Banking and President of Wall Street Mortgage.
He married Virgina Mae (Durham) Bassham. They were married for 64 years. He was a devoted family man, a member of the Church of the Nazarene, with a passion to serve his God. He liked to share his lake house and pontoon boat with his family and friends. One of his other favorite hobbies was his horses.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Grover Cleveland and Alma Gibson Bassham; Step father Henry Yarborough; his bothers Carl, Bob, Jack; sisters Lois Osborn and Betty Younger; and precious daughter Janet.
His wife, Virginia Mae Bassham, survives him. Also surviving are his children Boyd Bassham and wife Mallory of Keller, TX, and Karen Turner and husband Bill of Nixa, MO; his brother Dale Bassham of Salem, MO; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Celebration of Gene Bassham’s life will be in The First Church of the Nazarene, 3245 S Kansas Ave Springfield MO, on April 10, 2013, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, on April 9, 2013 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
