Kenneth Wayne Bridges, age 62, passed away on April 9th, 2011 from complications brought on by pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Springfield on March 13th, 1949, the son of Leslie and Xenadee Bridges.
Kenny was a graduate from Hillcrest High School. He went on to serve the Navy aboard an aircraft carrier during Vietnam. Kenny went on to work for GMC and then onto Colonial Bakery and Sara Lee Bread Company as a Diesel Mechanic. He retired from Sara Lee in 2007 after the diagnosis of his illness.
Kenny was an avid fan of stock car racing. He raced locally alongside good friend Al Manes and with friends Roger, Nathan, and Andrew Schnocke driving the Ironkids #8 stock car.
He is survived by his wife Linda and son Reggie, in-laws Hunter and Joan Highfill, brother-in-law Steve and wife Linda Highfill, niece Amanda Maher and her husband Zach, and nephew Todd Highfill. In respect to his wishes, there will be no services. Kenny will be dearly missed as a father, friend, and member of the Sunset Church of Christ.
