Stephanie Hickey left a message on December 11, 2024:
I wasn't able to attend in person but I was able to watch online. The service was a wonderful tribute. One thing I want to share is that Larry had the hardest job ever given to someone...being a single parent of a young daughter. He had to not only deal with a teenage Tabby on his own but he had to deal with all of her friends too. He never once complained. My dad had passed away a few years before Tabby's mom. That grief brought us together and gave us a strong bond. For many years, when Tabby wasn't with me at my house, I was with her at her house. He never once made me feel unwelcomed or as an outsider. I was part of the family. He extended that hospitality to all of her friends. For several years, their house would be overrun with kids on Wednesday nights. We would all get together at her house before being shuttled by Larry and other members of her family to Wednesday night church service. For several of those kids, that might have been the only exposure they ever had to Jesus. Larry would beam with pride when that church would fill up with teenage kids. Now that I've raised teenagers and been around their friends, I can honestly say, that man was a saint. I don't know how he did it but I'm sure glad he did. Larry, thank you for giving to the Lord and thank you for everything you did for me. I wish we could've had one more talk about Jesus and horses. 💗
