It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Larry Eugene Moore, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who departed this life on March 15, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on May 20, 1943, in Polk, MO, Larry lived his entire life on the cherished farm his family owned for over 100 years, where he cultivated both the land and strong connections with his community. Larry graduated from Halfway High School in 1961. He was united in marriage to Freddie Pursley March 12, 1964. He was saved at the age of 22 at Goodson Missionary Baptist Church and attended Lakeside Assembly of God Church.
Larry was a dedicated farmer, spending many years tending to his livestock and the fields that his family relied upon. He was the Fire Chief for the Polk Rural Fire Department, drove a school bus for Halfway R-3 Schools, and spread Lime and fertilizer all over the countryside with his brother Lavern. His hard work and unwavering commitment to farming were a testament to his character, embodying the spirit of the rural heartland. Larry was a man of simple pleasures who found joy in the beauty of nature and the laughter of his children, grandchildren, and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Harvey Lane Moore; and his brother Lavern Moore.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife, Freddie Moore, and their children: Glenda Vote (Roger), Terry Moore (Lisa) & Carol Hickman-Burns (Dennis), 2 boys adopted through foster parenting, 11grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives, friends, and church family. Each of them carry with them cherished memories of Larry’s warmth, wisdom, and steadfast presence.
In honor of Larry’s life, a Funeral Service will be held at Pitts Chapel Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating his life during the Visitation on the evening of Friday, March 20, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Following the service, Larry will be laid to rest at Payne Cemetery in Polk, MO. Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com. Larry Eugene Moore’s legacy of love and devotion will forever be etched into the hearts of those he touched. He will be missed dearly but fondly remembered.
