Larry G. Harris, age 69, passed away at his residence in Springfield, MO, on October 27, 2013. He was born on October 13, 1944 in Springfield, MO. Larry graduated from Parkview High School in 1961, then graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1966. He retired in March 2002 after 34 years as a Career Counselor for the State of Missouri. He was honored with the National Merit Scholarship Award. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, eagle watching and volleyball. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Phoebe Harris, his brother Thomas Harris and his ex-wife Carolyn Harris. Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Warner Stanhope, step-son Chad Warner and his wife Kristen Warner of Dallas, TX, and grandchildren, Landry, Caden and Cody Warner of Dallas, TX, his siblings and their spouses, Howard Harris of Cincinnati, OH, John and Tamra Harris of Independence, MO, Mary Harris of Cincinnati, OH, Nita Harris of Lowell, AR, Alice and Ray Fowler of Kansas and David Warner of Iowa. Also surviving is his nieces and nephews, Christopher and Anna Harris of Overland Park, KS, Howard Harris and family of Ohio, Thomas Harris and family of Hawaii, Tammy Jones and family of Arkansas and Melinda Camp and family of Arkansas, and close friends Frank and Tommi Matherly and John and Mary Ketchum and many others. A Celebration of Life visitation will be on Saturday, November 2, 2013, starting at 2:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
