Larry was a long time friend. We go back far enough to also remember other neighbor pups; Mike Heacock, Larry Barron, Dave Zarifis, couple others. He knew all the kids in my family (parents too) and they all liked him. As youngsters, we frequently could be found hanging around Liberty Park, the Blacks Grocery....later Sunmart, where both Larry and Kevan worked. As kids, nothing very criminal in behavior, just 'inspired mischief' which was what our parents almost 'expected' of boys. We especially enjoyed summer water-ballooning and winter snowballing cars, buses even more; the schedule, best locations, we knew intimately. As years slipped by, Larry was always great to see..... always a ready, knowing, warm smile and you knew he was glad to see/visit with you. A lot of laughs....nothing better. Time goes by. The last 4-5 years, we reconnected (Lori too) in person a couple times in Waterloo, and also Springfield. Their marriage is an inspiration. Our friendship grew...we talked, at ease, and at length...shared common thoughts on many issues. Larry...I love you...doesn't change just cause you left the neighborhood....gonna miss the laughter, the chats.....discussing old/new times. Will not forget you, my dear pal.

Dear Uncle Larry, I want to begin by simply stating that I Love You. You may not realize what an effect you've had on my life and who I am now, however, I can say that your impact has been profound. You taught me that anything was possible. Sometimes you just have to make it. Ingenuity and imagination are forever engrained in me. All from watching you grab some random stuff from around the workshop and just say "Have at it." Is possibly the best gift I've ever been given. And what an event that Zipline created for all of the cousins. It gave me the encouragement to experiment, to understand physics, and to MacGuyver together just about anything I needed or wanted. All I had to do was look around and the world became my workshop. The camping trip we took with Eric when I was nine remains my favorite wilderness adventure. It rained terribly that night and you had Eric and I sleep in the truck while you stuck it out in a puptent all night. I have no idea where we were and I haven't seen anything as beautiful since. Thick greenery everywhere and a long hike down a slow moving river. Not on a path. No... We walked hip deep right down the center. You taught me it was ok to laugh at myself instead of letting my feelings hurt. When you put that Ruger in my hand I had never touched a firearm. It was heavy, exciting, and new. Then, before I realized that I had pulled the trigger I was landing on my butt five feet back. Something about your brays of laughter felt different. You weren't making fun. It was the first time I distinguished the difference between Being Laughed At and having someone Laughing With you. Then I got a blackeye on the rifle scope! That was even funnier. That day is my first personal anecdote. Bowstring Lake? Best. Vacation. Ever. And still the only time I've ever fished. You launched my adventurous spirit. I could be indestructible with you. Everyone else had always made me Get away from that ledge, Get down from there... But you let me. Not out of negligence, but Out of trust. Out of character building. The encouragement to face fears and to take risks. To have the confidence to do dangerous things... But also, the mindfulness of Safety. My mom says I get a lot from you. My Drawing, my need to build stuff and the natural know how. You've always been... For lack of a better word Awesome. I've only known you to be patient, creative, and a fun person to experience even the shortest moments with. I hope you can take a bit of pride in the influence you've had on me. You are an Amazing man. The best Uncle a kid could ever hope for. I Love You Uncle Larry. Thank you for the part of me that you helped grow. Your nephew, Matthew James Krueger
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
