Lavatta Mae Carter, age 83, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on April 22, 2024, at Cox Medical Center South. Lavatta was born to Howard and Sybil Mendel on June 17, 1940 in Council Bluffs, IA. She graduated from Ozark High School and attended S.M.S.U. Lavatta was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Carter on May 26, 1962 in Springfield, MO. The couple were blessed with 2 daughters, Robin and Tina.
Lavatta loved playing Bingo, going to casinos, fishing and Mexican Villa. Nothing, however, brought her more fulfillment than spoiling her great-grandbabies. Lavatta will be remembered as the sweetest lady you could ever meet.
Lavatta was preceded in death by her spouse, Robert (Bob) Carter; parents, Howard and Sybil Mendel; and two sisters Luenetta Hale and Marjie Bilyeu. She is survived by her daughters Robin Pepper and Terry Cutburth; and Tina Freeman and husband Troy; grandson Greg Carter and wife Candace; granddaughter Jessica Keeton and husband Derek; 5 great grandbabies; one sister, Oma Bagley; and a host of family and friends.
A visitation for Lavatta will be held on Sunday, 28, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 29, 2024 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lavatta’s name to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
