LaVern Everett Case, 88, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away at his home on February 17, 2024. LaVern was born on August 1, 1935, in Ainsworth, Nebraska, to Lorrent and Marjorie (King) Case. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1953. LaVern is a member of the Weaubleau Community Bible Church and Coon Creek Baptist Church in Collins, Missouri.
LaVern returned to Nebraska following his military service, he enjoyed many adventures. He worked as a ranch hand in the sand hills of Nebraska, traveled many miles as a truck driver, demonstrated the use of heavy equipment for Caterpillar, and could repair anything with a motor. LaVern raced stock cars for nearly 30 years. LaVern was a nomad, but he always had a plan. He could play the dobro and loved listening to music. In his later years, he enjoyed “treasure hunting” with his metal detector. LaVern married Lily Wanhala on July 24, 2015, just shy of his 80th birthday.
LaVern is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Justin Richards; his first wife, Allona (Gregg) Case; second wife, Patricia (Grabast) Case, and brother, Leslie Dean Combs.
He is survived by his wife, Lily Case; his children: Myron Case, Lorent Case and wife, Susan, Jesse Case, and wife, Amy, and Margo Gresham and husband, Charles; grandchildren: Brandon Smith, Amanda Caudill, Brittany Case, Breanna Case, Ryan Boyle, Janet Case, Jessica Case, Christopher Case, Emma Case, Carter Case, and Mercedes Stafford; 16 great grandchildren; siblings: Larry Brooks, Darwin Combs, June Cords, and Rosetta Parker and many other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Weaubleau Community Bible Church 11619 E. Dewey St. Weaubleau, MO, on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00 P.M.
