Lawrence “Gale” Williams, age 97, passed away on June 23, 2021 after a short stay at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Gale was born to Ross & Dewie (Higgins) Williams on July 30, 1923 in Fairmont, NE, He moved to Mansfield, MO, with his family in 1935.
He married Patty “Pauline” Barber and moved to San Antonio, TX, where their first child Joyce was born. He then moved back to Mansfield, MO, with his young family, raised his six children, and lived most of his adult life there.
During his working years he had many talents: electrician, refrigeration and air conditioning, general maintenance, and locksmithing to name a few.
After his wife Pauline passed away, Gale moved to Battleground, WA, where he married Jean “Bunny” Ingram, and lived for 16 years. After Bunny’s death, he moved to Springfield, MO, and spent the last 5 years of his life here, to be near his children.
Gale is survived by 6 children: Joyce of Springfield, MO; Kenny & wife Grace of Elkland, MO; Paula, Sally, & Wanda, Springfield, MO; and Patrick of Buffalo, MO. Four grandchildren: Trenton, Anthony, Echo & wife Kassidy of Springfield MO; and Hayden of Marshfield, MO. Two great-grandchildren: Nickolai & Roland, and several nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, his wife Pauline, his wife Bunny, and son John.
Gale was strong in his faith, loved telling stories of his time as a medic in WWII, enjoyed woodworking, amateur radio, and playing his harmonica. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and neighbors.
Gale was a WWII veteran and will be honored with a Military Memorial Service at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 5201 S Southwood, Springfield, MO, on July 23 at 12 noon.
