Leah Alice Fisher, age 77, of Springfield, Missouri died Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Leah was born in Willard, Missouri, October 26, 1933, to Walter and Ruth McCroskey. Leah attended Willard Public Schools where she graduated in 1951. She then married Kenneth G. Fisher on October 10, 1953 in Noble Hill Baptist Church. Leah raised two boys, Eddie J. Fisher and Kenneth J. (Jeffry) Fisher.
Leah was well-known for her honesty, straight-forward approach to life’s matters. She provided a loving home for her family and behind every good man, is a strong woman, which Leah was. Leah was an excellent homemaker which was a requirement with three big boys to attend to. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Leah was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. Fisher; parents, Walter W. McCroskey and Ruth (Shelledy) McCroskey; brothers, Glenn McCroskey, Claude McCroskey; sisters, Rachel Brown and Christine Wester.
Leah is survived by son, Eddie J. Fisher, Springfield, Mo. and his children, Alicia Hicks, Willard, Mo., Kecia Maxwell, Fair Grove, Mo., Lauren Fisher, and Corbin Fisher, Springfield, Mo.; son, Kenneth J. (Jeffry) Fisher and his wife Nancy (Carty) Fisher and their children, Tyler Fisher and Alexa Fisher of Flint, Texas; sisters, Ruth Corcoran, San Diego, Calif., Florence Trantham, Willard, Mo., Joan Welch, Birmingham, Ala., and Una VanSomeren, Springfield, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Harley, Hannah Maxwell, and Chase Hicks.
Memorial services will be in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 N. National, Springfield, Mo. Friday, August 5, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.
