Leonard Robertson, age 90, of Springfield, MO, departed this place to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2017. Leonard was born October 17, 1926, the son of Clois and Lucy Robertson, who preceded him in death, along with five brothers: Lee, James, Raymond, Clinton and Dallas Robertson, two sisters: Jessie Euliss and Margaret Deck and a brother-in-law Harold Pickering.
On July 27, 1949, Leonard was united in marriage to Freda Pickering, and to this union was born one daughter Janice Lynn and two sons: Terry Gene and Christopher Paul. Freda and Leonard celebrated their anniversaries with love and devotion.
Leonard accepted the Lord as his Savior on August 5, 1951, at the age of 25. He loved the Lord and was always willing to give a helping hand when needed. Leonard was a member of Hamlin Memorial Baptist Church.
Leonard was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with deep affection.
Leonard graduated from Central High School and served in the United States Army. He worked for Ramey Super Market for 28 years as a meat manager and produce manager, and later retired from Harter House as a produce manager. He owned and operated a metal detecting business after retirement.
At the age of 69 he attended Ozark Technical College with a perfect attendance, and was a member of Electronics Technicians Associational International. He loved metal detecting and was a member of the Ozark Mountain Treasures Hunters Club.
Leonard is survived by his wife Freda Robertson, one daughter Janice Lowry, two sons: Terry Robertson and wife Peggy and Chris Robertson, six grandchildren: Jeffery Lowry and wife Jessica, Richard Lowry and wife Beth, Jeanna Wigley and husband Robert, Kiley Page and husband Ben, Cory Robertson and Kristen Robertson, four great-grandsons: Benjamin, Peyton and Drew Lowry and Aiden Wigley, four great granddaughters: Kaileigh and Ailina Lowry, Aiddison Wigley and Emilia Page, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Funeral service will be Thursday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
