Les Blizzard, age 70, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023. He was born in Canada on August 21, 1952, to Jack and Ruth Blizzard. At a young age he moved to the US and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1971 and married Sharon Blizzard on August 24, 1972. Les became a US citizen on June 9, 2008. For many years, Les was the body shop manager at Reliable Chevrolet. In 1992, Les and Sharon purchased St Louis Street Auto Body where Les’ passion helped them to build a successful auto body repair shop. Les took pride in his business and the service he provided to the Springfield community. Les and Sharon sold their business in 2021 and retired.
Les was always very athletic and active. He had many hobbies throughout his life which included cycling, especially mountain biking at the new Dirt66 trails at Fellow’s Lake, riding and racing motorcycles, racing cars and attending races, and working on his cars. During his retirement, Les enjoyed watching the deer and turkey on his property, loved his dogs, RV and lake life, and having more time to devote to his personal interests. Few things brought him more joy than riding his bikes and spending time with his family.
Les is survived by his wife, Sharon, his two daughters, Karen Smith and Janet Biggers, son-in-law David Biggers, grandson, Reid Biggers, and his mother, Ruth. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack and his brother, Frank. Les was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family beyond measure. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was blessed to know him.
Funeral services will take place at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri, on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 11:00 am, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Les’ memory to one of the following:
