Leslie “Joe” Davis went to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 23, 2010, after a lengthy but courageous battle with diabetes and heart disease. He was born February 10, 1956, in St. Louis, Mo., to Albert and Myrl Davis. Joe is singing and rejoicing with them, his brother, Morris Lynn Davis, and his grandson, Landon McKnight, who all preceded him in death.
Joe married the love of his life, Debbie Rinker, in October, 1974. To this union were born Tammy and Sam, who survive him. Joe loved to sing gospel music and at every family reunion insisted on singing at least one good ole gospel song.
Joe is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter, Tammy; son, Sam (Angel) Davis; grandson, Taelor Brayfield; granddaughter, Athena James; two brothers, Don (Sharon) Davis and Dennis (Sherry) Davis, Springfield; two sisters, Gail (Jim) Baker, Stoutland, and Barbara (Russell) Reneer, Springfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday in National Heights Baptist Church, under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will be in Robberson Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to JDRC of the American Heart Association.
