Lester Ival Burks, born September 13, 1949 in Marshfield, MO to Harlin H. and Edna F. (Rowden) Burks, passed away August 24, 2011.
A 40 year employee of B&I Tire Co. in Springfield, MO and was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all.
Lester is survived by his wife Christine L. Burks of Springfield; three sons, Larry Burks of Springfield, Steven Ray Burks and Mark Allan Burks both of Belton, MO; stepson, Dustin Tinsley of Springfield; daughter, Elaine Dawn Burks of Springfield; 11 grandchildren: Salina, Johnny, Cody, Brantley, Gage, Samantha, Kaleigh, Passion, Payton, Suzie, Calven; his mother and stepfather, Edna and Daniel L. Smith of Willington, MO; three brothers, Dwayne Burks of Independence, MO, Randy Burks of Allen, TX and Kenny Burks of Halltown, MO; eight sisters, Thelma Sue Smith of Independence, MO, Lillie Jennings of Mayview, MO, Tanya Jancek of Independence, MO, Loretta Dover of Raytown, MO, Mary Dell Hembree of Republic, MO, Linda Burton of Republic, MO, Paula Thornton of Mount Vernon, MO, and Debbie Gass of Springfield, MO; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harlin H. Burks, siblings Harlin S. Burks, Juanita Morris, Marguarett Stefancek.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.
