Lewis “Bub” Simpson, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on August 11, 2024, at James River Care & Rehabilitation. Lewis was born to Lewis F. Simpson, Sr. and Frances C. Morton on February 12, 1952, in Springfield, Missouri. He was raised in Springfield and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1970. Lewis was married and divorced twice. With his second marriage to Shannon, the couple was blessed with one son, Connor.
For a number of years, Lewis was as an insurance adjuster. He loved working with his hands which led him to finding work at Paul Mueller Company. He also worked as a paint and autobody technician. In his earlier years, Lewis earned certification from the American Concrete Institute. Even while serving as an insurance adjuster, Lewis’s love for hands-on work made it possible to work as a general contractor in his early to middle years. Lewis suffered a massive stroke when he was just 44, which limited his abilities to do the professions he loved. With the help of his sister Cindy, he continued to live a very independent and never once complained about anything. Lewis had many hobbies and found satisfaction in many different things. Nothing, however, brought Lewis more fulfillment and satisfaction then getting to see and spend time with his son Connor. Lewis will be remembered for being a kind, thoughtful, generous, and very loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Lewis was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lewis and Frances Simpson; sister, Francene Van Boening; and siste,r Cindy Rogers. He is survived by his son, Connor Simpson; grandchildren, Adam and Madi Simpson; brother, Rick (Patsy) Simpson; two sisters, Donna Opperthauser and Nikki Hale; along with many nephews and nieces.
A graveside service for Lewis will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, 10:00 am (CDT), at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, in Willard, Missouri.
Arrangements are under the compassionate direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri.
