Memorial For Lilly Thompson

Lilly Loved dressing up like every day was a tea party, and to honor her vibrant spirit, we invite you to join us in celebrating her life by wearing pretty or floral attire. While certainly not required, we would love to see the room filled with the brightness she brought to all of our lives.

To my baby sister Lilly, I never got the chance to tell you how proud of you I am. You grew into such a beautiful, kind, and incredible young lady. Watching you blossom over the past year filled my heart with so much pride. Even as you grew more independent, I never stopped seeing you as my baby sister. I also never got to tell you thank you. Thank you for always being there for me, no matter what. I don't know how I'm supposed to do life without you. It will be hard but I will figure it out, don't you worry about me. Thank you for every inside joke, every argument, every laugh until I needed my inhaler, every dance party, every single cup of my special tea, and all the late night sleep overs where all you wanted to do was cuddle and talk to me all night long. But most importantly thank you for being my very best friend and loving me with all your heart. I was supposed to go first, you know. That's how it's supposed to be. Big sisters are meant to face the unknown first, to make sure it's safe, and then tell their little sisters it's okay to follow someday. I was supposed to be the one waiting for you, not the one left behind. I know you'll be just as deeply loved in your next life as you are in this one. And if we're lucky enough to find each other again, I hope with all my heart that I get to be your big sister once more. I love you more than words could ever say, and more than you'll ever know. Until I see you again and with all my love. Your big sister, Grace Kelly

Lilly, You're grounded. This was NOT what I meant when I said "promise me you will stay little forever". Plus, you left your room a mess and Frankie misses you. I told you not to spoil him! We already can't sleep and now we have him pawing at us and crying in the middle of the night insistent on being babied. Grace and Lewis have been right by our sides since you left. Everyone is sticking together. Yes, Grace will be ok. Don't worry. Me and Daddy will make sure of it. Plus, Lewis is a trooper and really being a rock for us all. And since you can't tell her no, I'm letting Lucy wear some of your clothes. She says she likes the way they smell and it's helping her. Also, Allie has run off with a squish mellow plant from your bookshelf. I didn't figure you would mind. She misses you too. Don't worry we won't let them mess up your stuff. Daddy and I have spent all week making arrangements and doing things we never thought we would. It's been incredible difficult and completely exhausting. Daddy and I have really been here for each other so don't you worry about us. We got this part no matter how challenging it is. Yes, we are making sure Avery knows she is loved and yes, we are texting her. She has been here a few times getting loved on by us. I know that would really make you happy. We will definitely take good care of her for you. On a positive note, Daddy and I got to play detective and figure out a few of your passwords. I cried with relief when Daddy figured out your phone's pin. Sorry, not sorry. Where did you even come up with that one ? You said it was Frank's birthday and kid...NO it wasn't! We have been looking for the perfect urn for you, but everything was all wrong or cultured marble. "Crap" as you would call it. We know you wouldn't want that. Don't worry, you know I would never would give up on helping you. I found a company that is going to make something special for you. Daddy, Grace Kelly and I went to their stone showroom. We selected a beautiful piece of greenish stone. We picked it because one, It doesn't look like anything you already have in your rock collection, and two, because you had your heart set on that future green moss agate ring. After we got home, I sat down and went through your Pinterest board. We definitely made the right choice of stone for you. Aunt Cici pointed out, that the stone we picked looks like soft wispy layers of material like the wedding dresses you chose for the future You won't be disappointed. We promise. They've never done this before, but I can tell they're going to put all of their hearts into it. It's going to be just like you : unique, beautiful and one-of-a-kind. We miss you so much Lilly. We can't wait to get you home. P.S. We're all wearing tea party dresses to your celebration of life. I know you would really like that. Hope you enjoy the show. Love Mommy and Daddy

My deepest condolences to Lilly's family and friends. Lilly was currently in my online class at OTC, and while I didn't get enough time with her to know her well, from what I did know of her I found her to be very sweet, and quite delightful. I recently asked a question to the class about their favorite place to vacation. She replied that Echo Bluff State Park in Missouri was her favorite because she was "a big rock nerd" and loved seeing neat features up close. I really thought that was so very cool! I was heartbroken to hear of her passing, and heartbroken for the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, Ms. M-H

I got the pleasure of meeting Lilly in June’s class at OTC. We took a few classes together and week by week we slowly got to know each other’s personalities. She would always share about her new makeup and everything exciting that would happen. Me and her would talk about our dogs and everything we wanted to do after graduation, in between our shared classes we would watch movies or YouTube videos in the classroom because we didn’t want to leave during the break. During group events at OTC she was always so active, making sure everyone was okay and always volunteered to help out extra to make sure everything was right. During some of our field trips I got to drive her around during that time I got to know her music tastes as well as some other aspects of her life. When the school year finally ended me and Lilly got to sit next to each other at graduation, she was so excited and would be texting her family every few minutes. When we were walking down I asked her if she knew where they were and she pointed them out instantly. Lilly I am so sorry you are gone, I will miss you.
