It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Kay Wilson, a beloved daughter, aunt, and friend. Linda was born to Arthur and Lucille “Eldine” Hale Rowden on October 4, 1941, in Springfield, Missouri, where she spent her life touching the hearts of everyone she encountered. She left us peacefully on July 9, 2026, at the age of 84.
Linda graduated from Central High School in 1959 and went on to dedicate several years of her life to working at Springfield Tablet until its closure in 2001. Her strong work ethic and dedication to her role were evident to all who knew her.
In 1973, Linda married Melvin “Wayne” Wilson, forming a partnership filled with warmth and shared passions. She was a lover of nature, finding immense joy in nurturing beautiful plants and flowers. Many will remember her vibrant flowers, a reflection of her caring spirit.
Linda was also a devoted animal lover, particularly adoring cats. Over the years, she welcomed many feline friends into her home, each one cherished and spoiled in true Linda fashion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, and her two brothers Donald “Keith” Rowden and Michael Rowden.
She is lovingly remembered by her niece, Vicky White and her husband, Chad White (Springfield, Mo); her nephew, Dan Rowden (Florida); her step-daughter, Twyana Bradley and her husband, Ron Bradley (Springfield, Mo), and numerous other cherished family members and friends. Each of them carries fond memories of Linda, from her warm laughter to her unwavering support.
We invite all those whose lives were touched by Linda to join us as we celebrate her life. Visitation will take place at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri, on July 15, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 11:00 AM, honoring the beautiful life she led.
After the service, Linda will be laid to rest at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri.
As we bid farewell to Linda, let us remember the warmth she brought into our lives and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of tending her flowers and the companionship of her cats. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
