Linda Lee McCown, age 84, of Fair Grove, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Linda was born to Kenneth LeRoy and Ruth Marion Russell on January 12, 1942, in Joplin, Missouri. She was raised in Joplin and Springfield, Missouri and graduated from Parkview High School in 1959. Linda was united in marriage to Sammy Allen McCown on January 16, 1960, in Springfield, Missouri. Linda and Sam shared 66 years of marriage before Linda’s passing on April 12. The couple were blessed with 4 children. LeRoy, Jeannie, Stacey and Vicki.

Linda enjoyed serving her church, Antioch Methodist Church, as the treasurer. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir and was a member of the Northview Young at Heart Choir for many years. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, reading, camping and playing cards and dominos.

Linda was preceded in death by both her parents, Kenneth and Ruth Russell and her younger brother Keith (Bud) Russell. She is survived by her husband, Sam McCown, her son, LeRoy McCown (Leslee), her daughters, Jeannie Milam, Stacey Johnson (Doug) and Vicki Peterson (Jerry), nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandson, her youngest brother, John Russell (Katy), her sister-in-law, Paralea Russell, her brother-in-laws, Virgle McCown (Donra) and Alva McCown (Janet) and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Linda will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North at 3506 N. National Ave, Springfield, MO,65803. The Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM following the visitation. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
