Linda (Benford) Behling, age 70, passed away Friday, July 12th in her home while surrounded by family and friends, from complications of mesothelioma. She was born in Lamar, MO, graduated from Webb City High School, and lived in Springfield, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Lavonne Benford, her brother, Harold Benford, her sister, Sherry Boyer, her great niece, Eleanor Smart, and twin grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Howard Behling, sister Nancy Benford Smart and her husband Jeff, sister Virginia Redfearn, brother Randy Benford son, Brandon Behling and his spouse Kimberlee,daughter Melissa Gray and her husband Chris, nephew Jeremy Smart and his wife Andi, five grandchildren Jonathon, Madysen, Dwight, Hunter, and Rylee Gray, great grandson Tobias Stewart, and her beloved dog, Penny.
She made a career in the limousine industry and worked at DaBryan Coach, Executive Coach Builders, and First Class Customs over the past 30 years in many roles including stripper (the one who takes the car apart), chrome, wiring, vinyl tops, parts, fiberglass, tinting, and finally moved into the office to run finance. One of her greatest achievements was establishing the QVM (Quality Vehicle Modifier) program with Ford.
Linda's greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time camping with her family, going to Elvis impersonation shows, shopping in Branson, and going to the lake. She also enjoyed her many trips to the casinos with her sister, Nancy. She never knew a stranger and had many who called her “mom”.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 5-7 P.M. and the funeral will be Monday, July 22, 2019 at 10:00 A.M in Greenlawn Funeral Home at 3506 N National Ave, Springfield, MO.
