Mr. Lloyd “Sonny” Kenneth Lisenby, age 88, of Ash Grove, Missouri, passed away on May 2, 2026, at Magnolia Square . Lloyd was born to Loyd Lisenby and Effie Lisenby on August 2, 1937 in Springfield, MO. He was raised in Springfield, MO and he went to work at an early age. Lloyd was united in marriage to Vicki Lisenby on June 7, 1976 at Miami, Oklahoma. Lloyd and Vicki shared almost 50 years of marriage before Lloyd’s untimely passing on May 2, 2026. Lloyd Joined the Military and proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years before his honorable discharged on March 1, 1960.
Lloyd was employed with Master Mix Feeds over 45 years. He retired as a supervisor at the feed mill. When not working, he had many interests and pastimes including playing baseball and he tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed showing and working with Tennessee Walking Horses, he also liked NASCAR racing, Quail hunting and fishing, and listening to Country and Western Music Nothing, however, brought him more fulfillment working with his cows and gardening. Most people who knew Sonny knew that he was scared of snakes.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Lisenby; mother, Effie Lisenby, and his son, Lloyd William Lisenby. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Jean King (George), Evelyn Smith (Smitty), Wilma Bigelow (Gordon), Joan Thimesch (Verl), Dorcus Mae Killingsworth (Frank), Francis Lisenby, brother: Bob Lisenby. He is survived by his spouse Vicki Lisenby two step-sons, who he raised as his own Frank Posenke, (Angela) and his grand-daughter C.J. and Michael Posenke and Sonny’s brother, Sam Lisenby. He is also survived by his sister-in-law: Teri Canino and her two children: Heather and Jeff, as well as many nieces and nephews, including Dale Thimesch and his wife Marilyn, his niece Patti Clark. He also leaves behind his many friends and neighbors.
Funereal services will be held at 11:00 am. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Visitation will be one hour before services, from 10:00 a. m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial with Military Rites will be at 1:00 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Lloyd’s memory to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
