Lloyd Lee Wilken was born on April 2, 1924 in Springfield, Missouri. On October 8, 2012, he passed away at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar after an extended stay at Colonial Springs Care Center in Buffalo.
Lloyd was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War 11. He served as a Field Lineman with Battery “A” Field Artillery Battalion, 26th Division. He was awarded three bronze stars for service in Rhineland Ardennes in Central Europe.
Lloyd was a devout Christian and longtime member of Peace Chapel Assembly of God Church in Fair Grove. He was co-owner of the Overhead Door Company in Springfield before retiring in 1985.
Lloyd volunteered to deliver meals on wheels in Springfield for 15 years. He was also an active mall walker and member of the Missouri Falconers Association.
Lloyd married Beulah Lee Tracy in Oklahoma on November 2, 1947. They were happily married for 41 years. Beulah preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, William and Nera (Breedlove) Wilken and three brothers, Harold, Lewis and Clifford.
He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Bybee and husband Jack; son, Ron and wife Kathy all of Preston, MO; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; special longtime friend and confidant, Barbara Garten; and many other loving friends and relatives.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2012 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with interment to follow in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or their charity of choice.
