Lonnie Burton “Burt” Marshall, a devoted family man and a friend to so many, passed away at the age of 80 in Springfield, Missouri on March 7, 2024. Born on March 18, 1943, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Burt was a man whose generosity and warmth were the hallmarks of his character. Throughout his life, he was treasured by those who knew him and affectionately considered a bonus father figure or fondly referred to as Uncle Burt.
Burt’s professional journey began as a graphic artist with Lily-Tulip Cup Corporation in Springfield, Missouri. His career led to management and sales before stepping into an entrepreneurial role to establish Alburt Packaging. He dedicated himself to his company until his well-deserved retirement.
In his leisure time, Burt was an avid fisherman and an enthusiastic outdoorsman, cherishing moments spent with family and friends, most often at Pomme de Terre Lake and Hickory Ridge Marina. His love for fishing and being on the water was not just a personal passion, but a gift he shared with younger generations, imparting his knowledge and fostering a love for the outdoors.
Burt leaves behind his sister Beatrice Goodin, his daughter Darla (Marshall) Berry and spouse, Frank, and his son Ken Marshall and spouse, Linda. His memory will also be cherished by his many nephews and nieces, their children and grandchildren. He now joins his parents, W.P. “Bill” and Gladys Marshall, who preceded him in death.
Family and friends may pay their respects at Greenlawn Funeral Home East during a visitation from 2-4 pm on Saturday, March 16th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Burt’s memory to the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation whose mission enriches the lives of children with special needs, supports their families, and strengthens communities through the sport of fishing. https://castforkids.org/
