Loren Lee Long Sr. of Springfield, MO, passed away on May 26, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on December 19, 1938, in Springfield, MO the son of Fay Ezra Long and Alta Owens Long. Loren was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to his family.
Loren was a skilled Journeyman Bookbinder in the publishing industry, showcasing his craft and passion for books throughout his career. His dedication to his work was an inspiration to many. Loren was extremely proud of the fact that he had personally donated 22 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross and had also read the Bible cover to cover 22 times.
He is survived by his daughter Marty Hopper and husband, Larry of Morrisville, MO, his son, Loren “Skip” Lee Long, Jr. of Springfield, MO, his grandchildren, Amanda Douglas of Springfield, MO, Ashley Holtzman and husband, Matt of Cassville, MO, and great-grandchildren Dakota Douglas, Hallie Hughes, Chelsey Douglas, Hayden Holtzman, and Harlyn Holtzman. Loren is also survived by his two sisters Fay Phelps of Springfield, MO and Loretta Murray and husband, Mark of Springfield, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Martha Long and brother Max O. Long.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2024 at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
Loren’s kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones. May he rest in peace, his memory a blessing to all who knew him.
