Lorene Elizabeth Stafford Gillham, age 95, passed from this life on July 10, 2009, in Mercy Villa, in Springfield, where she had resided since February, 2005. Born in Red Top, Missouri, on November 19, 1913, Lorene was the youngest of five children born to Floyd and Flora (Highfill) Stafford. She was united in marriage to Paul Edwin Gillham on April 23, 1937. Lorene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul, in July, 1976, after 39 years of marriage. Also preceding her were three sisters, Evelyn, Dessie and Pearlie; one brother, Orin; and one grandson, Troy Conduff. Lorene was of the Baptist faith and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a beautiful, talented, energetic and independent individual who enjoyed her home, family and church. She loved doing needlework, reading, traveling, her bowling leagues and the friendships she made. Lorene is survived by three children, Jeanette Elizabeth Comisky and husband, Charles of Lee Summit, Mo., Charles Edwin Gillham and wife, Carolyn of Springfield, and Stanley Wayne Gillham and wife, Linda of Springfield; five grandchildren, Michael Comisky, Anne Brincks, Lisa Coffman, Deborah Summerson and Jason Gillham; and five great-grandchildren, Brandon White, Caroline and Benjamin Brincks, Sydney Layne Summerson and Ella Joy Gillham. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her. Private services are planned and interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The Gillham family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Mercy Villa and Hospice for their kindness and consideration shown their mother during her stay with them.
