Loyd “Dennis” Dollins, Jr., was born October 9, 1942 in Pomona, Missouri. Dennis passed on to a greater place on September 9, 2012.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd Dennis and Zella Pauline Dollins.
Survivors include his four brothers and one sister, Bill and Ruth Dollins of Shawnee, OK, Gary and Millie Dollins of Springfield, Steve and Marilyn Dollins of Strafford, David and Tammie Dollins of Marshfield and Connie and Eric Faris of Tyler, TX; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends.
Dennis never met a stranger and was a friend to all. Dennis has always been an Elvis Presley fan and loved to hear him sing gospel as well as his other songs. One of his favorites was Hound Dog. The staff at Christian Health Care nicknamed him “Elvis” and also “Hound Dog.” One of the highlights of his life was when his nephew, Timmy, took him to Memphis to see the home of Elvis.
Dennis also loved to sing as he traveled up and down the halls of Christian Health Care. Two of his favorites you could always find him singing were, “The Old Old Story” and his own version of “I’ll Fly Away.” He would sing, “You Go Your Way and I’ll Go Mine.” The staff could always tell where he was by his singing.
The family of Dennis would like to thank the staff at Christian Health Care and Cox Medical for the care they provided. We also give many thanks to all of the churches and people that visited Dennis over the years. You made his days brighter and he looked forward to each and every one. Dennis looked forward to the church services each Sunday. He loved God and told us many times he wanted to go to Heaven to see his mom and dad and he was ready to go. Also, many thanks to the friends at Christian Health Care as each of them had a special place in his heart.
We know it is hard to give up a loved one but we are comforted knowing Dennis is in a far better place in Heaven. Now he can help mom and dad watch over us until we all meet again. Dennis, we love you and will miss you, but will listen each day to hear you singing in your new home in Heaven. God Bless and we love you!
