Marcia Fern Hughes, 88, of Springfield, Mo passed away on December 28, 2010 in Cox Medical Center South. She was born November 6, 1922 in Phillipsburg, Mo. and graduated from Senior High School in Springfield.
She was the first female inspector for Royal McBee where she worked for 10 years. She later worked as a switchboard operator for MSU, then SMSU, where she retired in 1994.
On December 31, 1938 she was married to Arlie W. Hughes, Sr. she was a member of National Heights Baptist Church. Her hobbies included; fishing and crocheting, she also loved to go to Casino’s with her family.
She was preceded in death by husband, Arlie W. Hughes, Sr. in 1981; and infant son, Freddie Joe in 1939.
She is survived by her children, Larry Hughes and wife, Verna, Jackie Reynolds and husband, Bill, and Arlie W. Hughes Jr. and wife Joyce; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10 A.M. Friday, December 31, 2010 in Greenlawn Funeral Home East with Dr. Vaughn Weatherford and Brian Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
