Marcia Sommer, born September 21, 1938, in St. Louis, MO, to Charles H. and Katherine P. Miller, gracefully entered into heaven on March 30, 2013, in Springfield, MO after a long, brave, courageous battle against an incurable illness. A long time resident of the Billings area, Marcia believed in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the Lutheran ministry. She was a member of the Missouri Lutheran Synod. She graduated in 1956 from Shorewood High School, Shorewood, WI. Beautiful Marcia enjoyed her children and grandchildren, raising and showing horses, swimming, boating, traveling, gardening, painting and live music. She was preceded in death by her parents Chuck and Katherine Miller, her beloved husband Gerald Sommer and daughter-in-law Mandy Sommer. She is survived by her six children; Son Jeff Sommer of Oronogo, daughter Sheri Sommer of Springfield, son Gary Sommer and wife Linda of Republic, daughter Susan Sommer-Luarca and husband EJ of Rogersville, son Chuck Sommer and wife Amy of Billings, son Dink Sommer and wife Jennifer of Oronogo. Marcia was also blessed with 14 grandchildren; CPL Josh Sommer of the U.S. Marine Corp in Kaneohe, Hawaii, Stephanie Sommer of Oronogo, Justin Brosseau and wife Kate of Boise, ID, Katie Brosseau of Minneapolis, MN, Kelsey Brosseau of Springfield, Tommy Joe Jones of Republic, Clayton Sommer of Republic, BreAnn Sommer of Republic, Logan Sommer of Republic, Chad Luarca of Gibralter, U.K., Sarah Sommer of Billings, Macey Sommer of Billings, Allie Landreth of Oronogo, and Hayden Sommer of Oronogo. Marcia is also survived by her brother in-law Roger Sommer, wife Judie and their two children Curt and Jacque of Missouri, and a sister Linda and her sons Todd and Curtis of Wisconsin.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 5th, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO 65809.
A Private family burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery, Kimberling City, MO.
