Margaret Elizabeth Jones, age 87, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 in her home. She was born March 3, 1926, in Roff, OK, to Sherman and Lila (Shrader) Crank. She was a member of the Kansas Expressway Church of Christ. On June 29, 1948, she married William “Shug” Jones and they raised five children: Margaret (Margie), David, Charles, Connie, and Robert Keith. They shared 53 years together. For many years in the Willard area, Margaret was known as the “Cake Lady” for her beautiful cakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2001. She was also preceded by a daughter: Connie Sue Derhammer and grandchildren: William “Bear” Locke and Monye Cortnye Locke: her parents, a brother; Elmer Crank, two sisters: Edith Alexander and Kathryn Yager.
Margaret is survived by her children: William David Jones, LaFayette, CO Charles Kenneth Jones (Beverly) Springfield, Robert Keith Jones (Robyn) Springfield, Margaret Louise Locke, (Skip) Ash Grove, son-in-law: John Derhammer, Nixa, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, nephews: Glen (Linda) Alexander and Ralph Alexander, and Dana Jones Robbins (Kelly)
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 in Greenlawn North Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Compassus, or to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
