Margaret Hathaway, age 96, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on June 4, 2021. She was born on June 9, 1924, in Visalia, California, to Homer and Lena Murdock. She graduated from Greenfield High School before attending Draughon’s Business College, Springfield, Missouri. She worked for the Missouri Division of Employment Security as an ES Tech for 30 years before retiring. She married Reverend Bill Hathaway on June 16, 2013, at Grandview Baptist Church, in Springfield. She was an active member at Grandview Baptist Church, loved reading the Bible, and listening to Southern Gospel Music.
She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Lena Murdock; an older brother, Herschel Murdock; a younger brother, Dr. Arch Murdock; and her second son, Terry Killingsworth. She is survived by her husband Reverend Bill Hathaway; children, Robert (Jean) Killingsworth and Rita (Jim) Needham; grandchildren, April Kerr, Cory Needham, Rachel Dixon, Lesley Terry, David Killingsworth, Jenny McElroy, Krystal Sturgiss, and Gabriel Killingsworth; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Murdock; and close friend, Sue Anderson.
Margaret was a faithful servant of the Lord and prayer warrior, and led many souls to Christ throughout her life. She has left behind a great legacy as a virtuous woman, steadfast Christ-follower, and devoted wife to her husband, Reverend Bill Hathaway.
Her visitation will be held Monday, June 7, 6:00-8:00, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. The service will be Tuesday, June 8, 1:00, at Grandview Baptist Church, 3208 N. Barnes Ave, Springfield, with the burial following the service at Greenfield Cemetery. The family request that any donations be made to Grandview Baptist Church, 3208 N.
