Margie U. (Robertson) Bonner departed this life on March 9, 2023. She was born in Sparta, Missouri on the 4th of July, 1927 to Arthur and Francis Robertson. Margie’s family survived the Great Depression while living in Sparta and later moved to Springfield, MO. She attended school and graduated from Springfield High School (now Central) during World War II. She met and married Walter Bonner in 1946. After the war, they moved to Independence, MO where Margie worked for AT&T.
In 1969 they moved back to Springfield, MO and Margie was a stay-at-home Mom to their 4 children, raising a big garden and canning homegrown produce. At the age of 50, she became a single Mom and took a job as a school cook, working at Sherwood, Jeffries, and Parkview until retiring at 65.
Margie loved people. She was active and loved to go visiting, have company, and camp at the lake. She was fiercely devoted to family and her social life revolved around family and friends. She was a jokester and loved to laugh. She was very active, driving until the age of 92 and lived independently until the end.
Living a vibrant life until the age of 95, Margie outlived her parents, her Siblings, Merle, Jack, and John, her ex-husband and best friend, Walter Bonner, and most of her friends. With her giving heart and generous spirit, she became a devoted caregiver to family and friends and sat with many of them as they passed over.
She is survived by her children, Mindy Spitz, Joel Bonner (Kevin Kimsey), Ben Bonner (Holly), and Cindy Mais (Mark). Her Grandchildren, Jared (Sara), and Logan Spitz, Lena and Marek Mais, and Brooke, Luke, and Chase Bonner, as well as many Nieces and Nephews, friends, and her Faith Lutheran Church family.

Visitation will be at Greenlawn North in Springfield, MO at 10am on Friday, March 17, 2023 with Memorial services to follow at 11am and burial in the Greenlawn North Cemetery. *NOTE – North National is blocked, so access the funeral home via North Glenstone to Valley Water Mill Rd.
