Margie Lee Mitchell, 74, of Fair Play, Missouri passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. Margie was born on June 5, 1946 to George and Bessie Ligon in Joplin, Missouri. Margie married Ed Mitchell on April 26, 1968 in Seymour and to this union two daughters were born.
Margie had an amazing ability to make people laugh. She was the peace keeper and wanted everyone to be happy; she “Don’t Want No Conflict!” She was a handy woman, willing to lend a hand to help to anyone at any time. Margie had a soft heart for stray animals, wild or domestic. She was known by many names, “Large Marge”, “Crazy Marge” was one of her favorites. Margie’s last words were letting everyone know how much she loved them. Margie and her sister, Charlotte, were best friends and always had the most fun together. If you couldn’t see them, just listen, and you would find them. Decorating the graves of her family was extremely important to Margie; she made about 50 floral arrangements for one Memorial Day.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tammy Smith; her brother, Roy Ligon; and her brother-in-laws: Wayne Rippee, Donnie Mincks, and Russell Claxton.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ed Mitchell, of the home; her daughter, LeeAnn Myers of Bolivar, MO; son-in-law, Kelley Myers; her sisters: Charlotte Rippee, Linda Claxton, and Georgie Cantrell; brothers-in-law, J.L. Gilliam, Tom Mitchell and wife Pam; grandson, Jake Myers; granddaughter; Erica Vincent; two great grandchildren, Mia and Landon; nieces: Natalie, Teresa, Nicole, Jennifer, Heather; and nephews: Ben, Jody, Joe, Brett, Toby, Tommy, Terry, and Greg.
