Maridel Wakefield Niederriter. Born July 28, 1945, died February 1, 2024.
Maridel is one of those people who everyone loves. She is smart, funny and empathetic. And she has kept a number of long-time active friendships, some for over 60 years. People really like her.
She is survived by her loving husband Jim Niederriter (Sneed), who is obviously writing this, and who is still as madly in love with her as the day we were married 44 years ago. We’re like two halves of the same whole.
Others who she left behind, and who will definitely miss her as much as I will, are her brother Richard Wakefield, her nephews Allen, Bret and Eric, her sister-in-law Maryann Wakefield and all the many close friends that she’s made in this lifetime.
Her marriage to Sneed was the kind everyone wants for themselves. Being always “tuned in” and “on the same page” for 44 years is pretty special to me. As I said, each other’s “other half”.
Maridel has been an important part of a LOT of people’s lives. She was a strength for them when they needed her. And a good friend. And she dealt with this sudden surprise cancer diagnosis with the same kind of strength that she gave to others. Her life ended peacefully and painlessly.
She will really be missed.
No flowers or gifts, please!
