Marie Annette (Neil) Newland, 86, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Marie was born on February 14, 1937, in Aldrich, Missouri, to Delbert and Ernestine (McClelland) Neil. She was a 1954 graduate of Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville, Missouri. She was a lifelong member of Eudora Baptist Church. While working at Macy’s in Kansas City, Marie met and married Ellis Vandenburg in 1955, and to this union two children were born: Randall Vandenburg and Sandra Vandenburg Criss. After Ellis passed in 1980, Marie met and married Eddie Newland, who also preceded her in death.

Marie and the family moved back to the area in the early 1960’s and she worked a few different jobs until finding her calling at CMH. She started working at CMH a career that would span 44 years. She served in many different roles during her time there and she treasured every minute. Marie loved to go fishing and be outdoors. She enjoyed taking daytrips, including spring trips to watch the Dogwood trees bloom and fall to see fall foliage. Marie cherished her time with her family, particularly her grandkids.

Marie is preceded in death by her first husband, Ellis Vandenburg, and second husband, Eddie Newland; her parents, Delbert and Ernestine Neil; and two grandchildren: Joseph and Jennifer Vandenburg.

She is survived by her children: Randall Vandenburg, of Hinton, Oklahoma, and Sandra Vandenburg Criss, and her husband, Theodore, of Bolivar, Missouri; grandchildren: Justin Vandenburg, of Hinton, Oklahoma, Olivia Meyers, of Rogersville, Missouri, and Christy Crawford, of Texas; great grandchildren: Ethan, Alyssa, and Alice; great great grandson, Conley; brother, Landon Neil, and wife, Kay, Florida, and sister, Carolyn Noll, of Bolivar, Missouri, and a host of family and friends.

A visitation for Marie will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Pitts Chapel of Bolivar, Missouri. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Eudora Baptist Church in Eudora, Missouri. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, in Eudora, Missouri.
