Iris Marie Brakebill, age 83, of Bolivar, MO, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Citizens Memorial Hospital. She was born June 12, 1931, in Van Town, MO, to Clark and Fern (Ross) Hollowell. She was united in marriage to Roy Brakebill October 24, 1946, and to this union four children were born. She was a member of the Slagle Missionary Baptist Church where she served as secretary, Sunday school teacher, and pianist, and attended faithfully until health wouldn’t allow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years Roy Brakebill; and her grandmother Martha Sheridan who helped raise her.
She is survived by her four children: James “Jim” Brakebill and wife Carol of Halfway, MO, Donna Sue Rash and husband Bob of Bolivar, MO, Barbara Griffin of Fair Play, MO, and Cathy Vines of Bolivar, MO; 9 grandchildren: David Rash, Daniel Rash, Lea Ann Keeling, Tim Rash, Amy Sanders, Scott Brakebill, Mark Rash, Kelly Pearman, and Katie Gillis; 23 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery, Halfway, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.
