Marie Cockrum, age 76, of Springfield, Missouri, joined her beloved husband, Donnie Cockrum Sr., and the Lord on January 23, 2024, in her home with her loving family by her side. Marie was born to Luther and Nina (Ritchie) Johnson on March 3, 1947, at home in Mt. Grove, Missouri. She was born into a large family of ten siblings, which led to her deep love and affection for family life. Marie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles “Donnie” Cockrum on July 8, 1965, in Springfield. From this union, the pair were blessed with ten children and 58 wonderful years of marriage. Marie, a woman of grace and warmth, touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had an ability to make everyone feel comforted and loved, with her kind smile and gentle demeanor. Throughout her life, Marie embraced the role of a mother and grandmother wholeheartedly, dedicating herself to her family and their happiness. Marie was also a proud member of Passion Assembly of God Church where her son is the Lead Pastor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donnie Cockrum Sr.; her son, Kelly Cockrum; and three brothers, Leroy, John Earl, and Howard Johnson.
Marie is survived by her nine children and their spouses, her sons, Scott and Kathee Cockrum, Donnie, Jr. and Stephanie Cockrum, Mark and Cassie Cockrum, Billy and Lisa Cockrum, Joshua and Jessica Cockrum; and her daughters, Tonya and Doug Morrow, Vicky Cockrum, Tina Browning and Josh Herrod, Penny and Ralph Ryan; thirty-three grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; her siblings, Melborn Johnson, Vickie Baldwin, Everett Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Rosie Newton, Liz Ownby, and Donna Tirres; numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.
The Visitation is on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home, North in Springfield, Missouri. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Garden in Springfield, Missouri.
