Marilyn Evalyn Rutledge Hunsaker, Nixa, MO, formerly of Springfield, MO, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in Springfield. She was born on March 7, 1931 in Williamsville, MO. She married the love of her life, James Henry Hunsaker in Piggott, Arkansas on November 25, 1950. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Sparta, MO.
Marilyn was a generous and loving Christian. She never let anyone be in need. Her home was always open for gatherings and great meals. Marilyn was hard working, outspoken and honest. Her love of cooking, gardening, canning and a garage sale was only surpassed by her love of hair. She owned Marilyn’s Hair Design for many years, until she and James retired to Arizona. After their return to Springfield she continued to keep busy until her health no longer permitted. Marilyn is also a cancer survivor. She will be dearly missed by her children, extended family and faithful pet and companion, Asia.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Hunsaker, parents, Lyman C. and Creasy E. (Wood) Rutledge, and sisters, Eloise Morgan and Norene Duncan. She is survived by her 6 children and spouses; James D. Hunsaker, Phyllis L. Hunsaker, Deborah E. (Luther) Ver Steeg, Donald A. (Connie) Hunsaker, Ronald D. (Kim) Hunsaker and John A. Hunsaker, 12 grandchildren; Robbie, Cole, Ethan, Tyler, Weston, Griffin, Jourdyn, Melissa, Christy, Rusty, Lynnea and Erica, 20 great-grandchildren, brother, John C. Rutledge, sisters, Myra L. Clark and Carolyn E. Denton, cousins, Myra and States Skipper, Mary Lou Owens and Richard and Norma Strickland and in-laws; Virginia Sherfield, Gene and June Hunsaker, Linda and Paul Christian, Glenda Fowler, Jerry Hunsaker, Lorene Hunsaker and Donna Hunsaker.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Hwy JJ Sparta, MO with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the church with a meal following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Sammy’s Window, 509 S. Cavalier, Springfield, MO. or to The American Cancer Society. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
