Marion Asako Schultz McFall, age 91, passed over April 14, 2013. She was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada July 13, 1921 to Asakichi and Wari Uyeda. She held dual citizenship in Canada and the United States.
Marion married Clifford McFall in 1980. He passed in 1995. They spent 15 years together working, enjoying hobbies, serving the community, attending church and traveling.
Marion is survived by son John and daughter-in-law Vera Jane Schultz of Springfield, MO, daughter Mary Ann Stone of Webb City, MO, and son Edward Schultz of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren–Mariam Adele Stone of Indianapolis, IN, James B. Stone of Webb City, MO and Nicholas and Mitchel Schultz of Tucker, GA; and her sister Horiko Uyeda of Fukuoka, Japan.
Marion enjoyed traveling the world and resided in Japan, Germany, Vancouver and Newfoundland, Canada and numerous U.S. cities. After her global travels she settled down in Springfield, MO.
Marion loved teaching. She taught elementary school in Fukomota, Japan, Hanau and Stuartgart, Germany and taught 24 years in Springfield School District from which she retired in 1991.
She served as an English translator, manager of Post Exchange Concessions, and teacher for the United States Occupied Forces in Japan post World War II.
Although Marion attended the University of British Columbia and received a teaching degree in Japan, she also earned a BS from SMS in 1964 and, later, a Masters in Elementary Education and a Reading Specialist Certification from Drury College.
Marion belonged to: First Baptist, Cherry Street Baptist, Baptist Temple Japanese Church and Elwood Full Gospel.
Her memberships included: Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Southside Center Senior as Stars and Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Marion donated to many charities and volunteered time helping others. She volunteered for Mercy Auxiliary in Springfield for over 30 years.
Marion was a faithful, obedient, Christian woman, loving mother, and a caring friend to many people of all ages, nationalities, and from every walk of life.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. before the service.
Graveside Service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 22, 2013 at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.
